Film screening: The Teachers Protest

Kvænangen Frivilligsentral and Nord-Troms museum are pleased to invite you to a film screening in the municipal council hall in Burfjord on Sunday 14 August at 18:00 – 21:00

About the movie:

This year marks 80 years since 650 Norwegian teachers were sent north to forced labor in Kirkenes and Veiskaret. They were forcibly moved because they protested against the nazification of the school and their profession, against children and young people. This civil courage displayed by the teachers fascinated the British teacher and filmmaker Jon Seal, who was inspired to make a film about this unique, non-violent resistance struggle.

Sigurd Aartun says a few introductory words before the film is shown – his father was one of the prisoners in Veiskaret, and was eternally grateful for the Kvænangværingen’s help to survive.

There will also be an opportunity to buy coffee and cakes.
